A Clinical Study of Cystic Hygroma




Abstract
This report includes a clinical study of 61 cases of cystic hygromas which were treated and. confirmed pathologically at Seoul National University Hospital during, 14 years from January, 1962 to December 1975.
The following results were obtained,
1. The sex ratio was 1.3 for male to I for female. 47cases, 77.0% were appeared first at
Age less than 1 year and 7 cases were found overl0 years of age.
2. Palpable cystic masses were principal clinical symptom with no specific symptoms in 60 cases. Infection was noticed in 12 cases, 19.7%.
3. The location of cystic hygroma was as follows in order; 37 cases, 60.7% in the neck and 8 cases, 13.1% in the axillary region, and 4 cases, 6.6% in the back.
4: There were no typical laboratory data or X-ray findings in cystic hygroma.
5. Entire cases of cystic hydroma were treated with surgical excision. Two cases were recurred postoperatively, radial palsy in one case and postoperative mortality was observed in one case.
